I am a ranger this season-2018-at Natural Bridges. I also worked here in 1970-71. I’ve become most interested, even impassioned about the area history, having been around twice now for some of that history. So, naturally as I have focused on Zeke Johnson, I’ve become interested in the Goblet of Venus, and it has grown to almost a must-see obsession, even though destroyed. That led me to this site.

I am happy to say that today I finally found the place, after two failed tries looking entirely in the wrong location. I thank you Mr. Stiles for your post. That, plus the WPA Guide you referenced, and some careful sleuthing, finally led me to the right place. I was elated, despite the 100 degree temps. The spot is essentially unchanged from the photo that you have placed here.

I am wondering what happened to the pedestal. I envision that it could have been carted away, but also, it could have rolled into the wash and carried downstream.

Thank you again for this site. I’d love to hear from anyone else who has or wants information on this intriguing piece of local history.
