CHARLES KREISCHER
In
1977 I was collecting campground fees at the Arches National Park
campground when I met a retired couple from Minnesota. In the course of
our conversation, the subject of Glen Canyon Dam came up and to my
surprise, Mr. Kreischer told me that he had taken several trips through
Glen Canyon before the dam flooded it all in 1963.
Charle
also mentioned that he had taken hundreds of Kodachrome transparencies
of his trips...I could barely keep myself from drooling. I told Charlie
that if he was ever in Utah again, I hoped he would bring his
collection along. The next day, the Kreischers broke camp and headed
east.
But
a fe weeks later, I received a package with a Minnesota postmark. In
it were more than 50 color slides from Charlie's collection. These are
are just a sample.
Look for many more in the future...JS
