This
is why we must continue demonstrating our anger. On Saturdays Yellow
Springs hosts lots of tourists. I challenge most pedestrians to join
us. Many of them are from out of town, but stop and consider whether
they ought to start an anti-war protest in their own town or city. Most
won’t, but some will. A young woman had promised to join us; two
Saturdays went by without her showing up. She did show last Saturday,
held a poster and engaged in a long conversation with one of us
oldsters. Oh, and we now have two drummers. Two Saturdays ago we were
joined by “Drummers for Peace.” They made quite a racket, from three
corners of the intersection. Another woman asked me, “What can I do for
you?” I replied, “Go get a sign, where the drummers are. Take your
pick.” She did.
We demonstraters will stand on the main street of Yellow Springs until the wars end and the troops and contracters come home.
