Magoo
“Magoo, my toy poodle, is now 13 years old. When he was 3 years old I heard of an organization called WAGS, which stands for Wonderful Animals Giving Support. It is a group of members whose dogs have to take a course in obedience and temperament to be qualified to make visits to patients in Hospitals, Nursing Homes and other facilities. He passed the test with flying colors, and made a lot of people happy for all those years, as he had a lot of cute tricks he could do, such as sneezing, shake hands, wave good-bye, take a bow, and dance in a circle on his hind legs.
“Yes that’s a true story about the little autistic girl who said DOG when we put him in her lap, and her Mother cried! He was very popular because of his size and the fact that he didn’t shed . They always had to have a bath before visits. We regularly visited a homeless men’s facility, where the men sat at long tables, playing cards, sleeping with their heads on the table, as many of them slept under a bridge at night, I always took cookies baked by my next door neighbor, and they would share them with Magoo, when he sat up and begged.
“I just let him take a well-earned retirement this year, as he is now a Diabetic, (gets his insulin shots twice a day), has developed cataracts, and also has a hearing problem! So we are both growing “old” together and enjoying our retirement.”
