SAN DIEGO – A wind turbine about 500 feet tall collapsed for unknown reasons in the Ocotillo area Monday, leaving three massive blades on the desert floor.
10News’ media partner East County Magazine reported the turbine that fell was at the Ocotillo Wind Energy Facility.
Ocotillo resident Jim Pelley told East County Magazine that the ground was not saturated from the day’s rainfall and the foundation was intact.
10News contacted the company that built the turbine, but the company has not returned calls as of Tuesday morning.
